Cossack (Dnepr) Motorcycles

Bikes for Salenew1.gif (11099 bytes)

Hi, Can anyone in your organisation help me, or rather my husband. We have recently become the owners of what we believe to be a Russian bike, called a Cossack, unfortunately the paperwork has not surfaced yet, although the previous owner has got it (somewhere!). The bike is a 175cc single cylinder twin pot with compression lifter. Manufactured in 1974 and still with original Russian tyres. We need to know if there is an English club, or if anyone out there knows of an 'Instruction manual' or just general help or information would be great.

Thanks for any help you or your members can give. We can be contacted on Joyce@Freeserve.co.uk

Regards, Joyce & Neil

A Cossack is another name for a Neval which is a Dnepr that has been reconstructed in England. They were imported to the USA in the 80's. The Brits would remove the cheesey ruskie electrics and replace them with cheesier Lucas units. They'd also remove the dual carbs and put a single SU carb on it. One good mod. was the use of quality rims and Avon tires. Very interesting machines. Half Brit bike, half Ukrainian!

I would suggest checking with Jim Beyer a/k/a Mr. Moto. He is a Ural dealer in Montana, and has a "Cossack Motorcycles" T-Shirt listed for sale on his web page, leading me to believe he may know something about them. His e-mail is: mr.moto@montana.com. Hope this helps.

Yes, the Cossack is a russian sidecar made by URAL. It is a domestic -10 imported and sold in Great Britton by Neval Ltd. I do not believe that Neval is still doing busness. Names used by them: Cossack=sidecar, Soviet Knight=solo

They used the 8.5:1 pistons with the Russian carbs.(the hot set-up).

Neval dressed up the bikes with chrome and running lights. He also imported the Dnepr as solos in two versions;the Classic and the Phoenix. These bikes were also jazzed up to look sharp!

EURO RETRO=URAL / DNEPR
